Episode 188: Simplifying Sustainability with Joshua Wolfe

Written by commonsku | Jul 7, 2022 1:17:12 PM

Josh Wolfe co-owns Sky Punch Creative, a promotional products distributorship, which is about to undergo a rebrand, renaming, and relaunch, but he started his career as a photographer and focused on telling the story of climate change, co-authoring a book on the subject, Climate Change: Picturing the Science.

Over the years, he has done stints in academia, activism, and industry, which through a roundabout and completely circuitous path, led to the promotional products business. Like everyone else, he's trying to figure out how to make better, more useful, and more sustainable products.

Josh is this hidden gem in our industry, incredibly versed in the subject of sustainability, he’s a freethinker who -contrary to his seemingly curmudgeonly persona- is incredibly positive because he looks at sustainability through such a generous, genuine, and practical lens. This is why we wanted to talk with Josh, I wanted to hear from an expert within our industry why this subject of sustainability is so colossal and how we can simplify it for ourselves, our teams, and our clients so that we could make the biggest possible impact. We chat about:

How to engage with clients in practical ways,

The client’s “finite pool of worry” …. a great concept in working with clients

The concept of additionality and what it means

individual impact vs corporate impact

The fallacy that sustainable products are more expensive

Plus, Josh shares an ambitious idea that suggests how we as an industry can impact the consumer market versus always merely lagging when it comes to sustainable product development

Join us as we talk with Josh about how we, as an industry, can make massive changes, one step at a time.
